WARNING: THIS SITE FEATURES ORIGINAL THINKING...Jim Croce once sang Don't tug on Superman's cape..., which seems like reasonable advice should we not wish to anger the supreme powers. We do have this duality in our culture: the Superman that is the state collective, the leftist call to a politics of meaning managed by the state, the deification of "we're from the government and we'll take care of you" - versus the Superman that celebrates individual freedom, private property, freedom of conscience, free enterprise, and limited government. We humbly take on the latter's mantle and, eschewing the feeble tug, we dare to PULL, in hope of seeing freedom's rescue from the encroaching nanny state. We invite you, dear reader, to come and pull as well... Additionally, if you assume that means that we are unflinching, unquestioning GOP zombies, that would be incorrect. We reject statism in any form and call on individuals in our country to return to the original, classical liberalism of our founders. (We're also passionate about art, photography, cooking, technology, Judeo/Christian values, and satire as unique, individual pursuits of happiness to celebrate.) |
Superman's product of the century (so far):
The local news media has posted stories about the Washington state GOP making its Public Disclosure Act request from King County today. They are generally of the tone: Governor's Race: GOP Demands Voter List as in this Kiro TV (CBS affiliate) story. They make it sound like some kind of petulant request rather than a perfectly legitimate legal request that the county is required by law to respond to within five days.
Additional TV news stories are posted at Komo TV (ABC affiliate), and King 5 (NBC affiliate). Friend Josef has his usual good roundup of print media stories on the GOP PDA request here.
Surprise! Just as in the GOP filing for the first Supreme Court case during the recount, none of these MSM accounts provide access to the actual documents filed by the GOP with King County. Why not? Because if the public in general were given access to the filings and read them for themselves, the outrage would be heard across the entire country.
The PDA request to King County is here.
These are the declarations of Dan Brady, Jeffrey Cox, and Steve Bentler - all participants in some way during the recounts conducted in King County. What they directly observed makes my blood boil. Remember what I said about pens being in the counting area? Over vote fraud may prove to be a significant issue.
Want to bet that any response from King County to the Washington GOP will be posted immediately to some or all of these MSM sites with some favorable discussion about public support for their position?

Well, well in an "ouch" for us - read this:
"Q. Why was white-out applied? Was that legal?
"A. It was removable white-out tape that was applied to ballots so machines could read them. If, for example, a voter circled a candidate's name, rather than filling in the oval next to it, the county taped over the circle and filled in the oval so the ballot could be read. Several times during the hand recount the county canvassing board asked for the tape to be removed to examine voter intent. State law says ballots can be enhanced to be read by a machine as long as a voter's original intent can be determined. How that's done is up to each county."

I followed the supplied links and viewed the .pdf documents. The declarations/affidavits of Bentler, Brady, and Cox, are stingingly specific, incriminating by appearance, and as clear in the nature of their complaints as the behaviours of the various King county elections officials and manual recount workers are unclear!
The PDA request submitted by 'Davis, Wright, Tremaine' for the Washington state GOP is clearly written, comprehensive in the thinking it exhibits and the information it requests (in accordance with cited statutes), and appropriately inclusive in how its language addresses (what ought to be) the rightful and reasonable concerns of every legally registered voter in the state of Washington.
There is no sufficient argument for the GOP and the Rossi campaign to do other than press forward with a vigorously waged legal battle to set right the obvious wrongs committed in this latest election, as well as provide redress for all future elections. As an Oregon resident, I am all too familiar with the notion of having my will as a voter thwarted by a corrupt and controlling political machine. Here, fraud is made easier owing to the 100% mail in balloting process. Transparency is as much a mythical concept in our ballot tabulations as it is in Washington.I fully support your efforts Washingtonians - good luck and Godspeed!
