WARNING: THIS SITE FEATURES ORIGINAL THINKING...Jim Croce once sang Don't tug on Superman's cape..., which seems like reasonable advice should we not wish to anger the supreme powers. We do have this duality in our culture: the Superman that is the state collective, the leftist call to a politics of meaning managed by the state, the deification of "we're from the government and we'll take care of you" - versus the Superman that celebrates individual freedom, private property, freedom of conscience, free enterprise, and limited government. We humbly take on the latter's mantle and, eschewing the feeble tug, we dare to PULL, in hope of seeing freedom's rescue from the encroaching nanny state. We invite you, dear reader, to come and pull as well... Additionally, if you assume that means that we are unflinching, unquestioning GOP zombies, that would be incorrect. We reject statism in any form and call on individuals in our country to return to the original, classical liberalism of our founders. (We're also passionate about art, photography, cooking, technology, Judeo/Christian values, and satire as unique, individual pursuits of happiness to celebrate.)

Cassini sees a lake?
Filed in: Celestial, Current Affairs, Satire, Science

The US-European Cassini spacecraft has imaged a feature on Saturn's largest moon - Titan, that may be a 235km x 75km liquid methane lake - in the top-left portion of the image:

Darkspotontitan

Upon further examination, though, there is a much more momentous discovery:

Now with UPDATES:

The ice of Titan has been used by someone or something to store a massive frozen chicken:

RonL thinks it's the lost soul of the Democrats.

The mind graffiti never ceases.

UPDATE: Friend Jake sees Homer Simpson:

Heckle or Jeckle?

Mrs. Hapke's worried cherub:

A pantheon of faces.

And finally, a worried pooh:

Jake suggests that there are some very powerful forces at work.  Perhaps best expressed to Titan (or is that to we-uns?) in the words of Phillipe the Mouse (from Ladyhawke): "There are strange forces at work in your life, magical ones that surround you. I don't understand them, but they frighten me."

People Pulling

I don't see it. There are just some red marks. It must be in your imagination.

EMCEE: Yep. Imagination is what it takes.

Even spookier... Tilt your head about 45 degrees to the right and look at the picture.. Can you see the image of Homer Simpson's head in center of the frame ? Probably a companion piece to the face on Mars left by the Monolith People. As a matter of fact, there appears to be a monolith hovering just south of the lake and north of that small white spot. Probably there for a little 4th of July fishing and fireworks.. You know there have to be some trophy Bass or Trout or even Catfish in that pristine lake.

EMCEE: Now, that's some imagination! Fascinating how our brains want to resolve the random into the recognizable. Now, where's that profile of Arhtur C. Clarke? Nice thing about fishing there is that you don't need a cooler. The liquid methane makes for very fresh fish (though working around that methane breathing apparatus makes 'em hard to eat.) Happy 4th to you Jake.

I see a place to stash Ron Sims, Dean Logan and Bill H.!!!

EMCEE: It would certainly cool them off. Those hands still have to be on fire!
